Why these Rice Krispie Treats are Perfect

Y’all know my love of the perfect Rice Krispie treat

Well I took that perfect dessert and transformed it into a new Halloween treat!

Say hello to these adorable Mummy Rice Krispie Treats.

So easy, even the kids can help make them!

They start with chewy homemade treats and are topped with melted white chocolate to resemble mummies, and candy eyes!

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients needed to make mummy rice krispie treats.

What I love most about Rice Krispie Treats is that I almost always have the basic ingredients in my pantry!

  • Rice Krispies Cereal: keep some fresh cereal on hand at all times!
  • Mini Marshmallows: I prefer the minis over regular size as they melt evenly and then I can save a few to toss into the finished treats to give a little extra chewiness.
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Vanilla Extract: no imitation please. Our homemade vanilla extract really sets these apart.
  • Ghirardelli White Chocolate Wafers: I prefer these to morsels as they melt so smooth, are microwave friendly without clumping, AND they taste great!
  • Candy Eyes: can be found in most grocery stores in the baking aisle near the sprinkles!

Step by Step Instructions

Step by Step how to make halloween rice krispie treats

STEP 1: Start by making a batch of rice krispie treats. You can follow my How to Make Rice Krispie Treat tutorial for more fun ideas too!

STEP 2: After letting the krispie treats set, remove from pan by lifting by the parchment paper. Place on a cutting board and cut in half horizontally, then cut rectangles to make 10 large treats.

STEP 3: Melt white chocolate in a glass bowl in microwave according to package directions. I use Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers for best results.

Dunk one side of each rice krispie treat in the melted white chocolate (spreading evenly with an offset spatula if needed) and place two candy eyes on immediately. Place on parchment paper.

Save excess white chocolate in a ziploc bag while rice krispie treats harden (about 15 minutes).

STEP 4: Snip the corner off of the ziploc bag and drizzle white chocolate on the rice krispie treats. Set for 15 minutes and enjoy!

Can you make Halloween Rice Krispie Treats ahead of time?

These cute mummies can be made about 3 days ahead of time and stored in an airtight container.

How do you store Halloween Crispy Treats?

Keep rice krispie treats in an airtight container at room temperature. Do not refrigerate. This can cause your krispie treats to become too hard and not ideal texture.
