Homemade Vanilla Coffee Creamer

So you all know I’m completely addicted to my morning coffee. But did you know I also have a flavored coffee creamer addiction?

I’m the one that heads to the grocery store for milk and coffee creamer. We run out of store bought coffee creamer as often as we run out of milk!

And I’m not particular about my creamer. I’ll purchase whatever creamer flavors are on sale. I’m willing to try any taste at least once!

But, while I may have three different flavors creamer on hand at any one time, French Vanilla coffee creamer is always in my fridge.

I recently shared my favorite homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer. And it occurred to me, why haven’t I shared the easiest flavor, French Vanilla creamer?

Homemade Coffee Creamer 3 Ingredients

Three ingredients for french vanilla coffee creamer.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk– you can use any variety, including fat free!
  • Milk- use what you love. Keep it fat free and use skim milk, make it creamier and use whole milk or heavy whipping cream!
  • Vanilla Extract– adds the right amount of rich, vanilla flavor to the creamer! Almond extract adds a delicious depth of flavor too!

By using fat free sweetened condensed milk with fat free milk…you got it, you now have Fat Free French Vanilla Coffee Creamer.

How to Make French Vanilla Coffee Creamer

Step by step photos showing how to make french vanilla coffee creamer.

This recipe for homemade coffee creamer is so easy. 3 ingredients, mix and shake.

  • Combine all 3 ingredients in large mason jar. Shake vigourously. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • I keep mine in quart mason jars, great for storing in the fridge.
  • You should mix this homemade vanilla creamer before using it because the sweet milk settles at the bottom. Using a mason jar can make it easier to mix.
  • I found some cute chalkboard label stickers at Target and use them on my jars. If company comes over, pouring into a cute pitchers is simple!
  • This also makes a great gift idea for that coffee addict friend or hostess. Maybe with a cute mug and specialty bag of coffee (do you need my address??).

Notes

  • Combine all 3 ingredients in large mason jar. Shake vigourously. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • I like to store mine in quart size mason jars. Perfect for keeping in the fridge. You do need to stir or shake this creamer before each use, as the sugary milk sinks to the bottom (which makes a mason jar all that more useful)! I found some cute chalkboard label stickers at Target and use them on my jars. If company comes over, pouring into a cute pitchers is simple!
  • This also makes a great gift idea for that coffee addict friend or hostess. Maybe with a cute mug and specialty bag of coffee.
  • Use regular sweetened condensed milk and whole milk for a thicker, creamier coffee creamer if desired.

Thank you for this recipe. I’m so pleased to have a creamer than isn’t full of ingredients I cannot pronounce.

  2. Just made my first bath and I have to say I am very pleased! I love knowing what is in the products I consume and I love making kitchen staples homemade. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Hi Aimee,

I just saw this recipe and am so happy to try it out. The Coconut creamer we usually buy has not been in any stores recently, so I’m driven to try this out. Question: Why only 1 gr. of sugar in each Tbsp? With a whole can of Sweetened condensed milk? How does each Tbsp. only have 1 gr. of sugar in it ? Thanks a bunch

    1. Sometimes my nutrition calculator (which automatically does it) is wrong. I always encourage people to do their own calculations. You can find fat free and splenda condensed milk.

  4. Aimee I’m the only one who use creamer so my question is can I freeze half of it so it doesn’t spoil before a week is up?
    🥹 joy

    1. This is a brilliant idea. I’m the only one who has creamer in my coffee so I was concerned about waste. I’ll pour these into my souper cubes and keep a small amount in a bitty mason jar for daily use. Thank you!

  5. LOL I’ve been making my own for years now. Same ingredients except the milk, I buy the boxes of milk at Dollar store.

Omg…this is better than store bought!! I ran out of creamer today. Said there has to be a way to make it. I’m a 60 percent creamer 40 percent coffee so I love my creamer lol and this!!! Is!! It!! Making my own from now on!! Making your Almond Joy creamer next month!! Delicious 😋😋

I have been making your recipes for YEARS and love it so much! I prefer it to any other store bought brand. I am also trying to use less plastic, so this really helps with that. For me, it works best to add all ingredients to a bowl with a spout, whisk everything together and then add to my storage container.

  8. I’m drinking this now in a mug of coffee with a cinnamon stick. It’s decadent. Be advised, however, that shaking vigorously before use really does make a difference.

I pay $8.00 sometimes more for French vanilla coffee creamer from coffee mate. We ran out this morning and my husband is very particular. He won’t let me buy a cheap brand or try to make some, but today is the day! He will only have the French vanilla, coffee, mate creamer. I usually have to buy four or five containers every couple weeks I’m so glad I found your recipe. It’s awesome in my coffee and I put it in my frothing machine it tastes fabulous! Thanks for sharing. I will save a lot of money now!

  11. I made and loved it. I’m doing weight watchers do trying to get a point equivalent but the calories don’t match. Is the nutritional value correct!

    1. Every product is different, and the calculator for my website can sometimes spit out wonky numbers. I suggest you use myfitnesspal or another more reliable calorie counter.

Tastes delicious, but confused on calories? Sweetened condensed milk has an insane amount of calories like over 1000. And this recipe says the whole can plus calories from milk is is 288 calories for the entire recipe?

  13. Unbelievable! It is just perfect!!!! And fat free. With NO weird chemicals. You’re a genius. Drizzling over strawberries now.

      1. Hi, Amy. Your recipe for French vanilla creamer has made me a believer in homemade is best! Not to mention the $$$ I will save. I tasted it against the store bought kind and there’s NO comparison. It tastes like premium vanilla ice cream. I’m sold!! Thank you for sharing.
