Ingredient Notes
- Brandy – Brandy is the main alcohol in this slush. It’s a little sweet and goes down smooth.
- Peach schnapps – Peach schnapps adds a touch of extra fruity flavor to complement the brandy.
- Frozen orange juice concentrate – Thawed, concentrated orange juice ensures that this slush has a bright flavor.
- Frozen lemonade concentrate – Lemonade adds zing and sweetness to this boozy slush. Try pink lemonade if you prefer!
- Granulated sugar – Adds sweetness to the slush and also makes for a better consistency once it’s frozen.
- Lemon-lime soda pop – This adds the perfect amount of fizz when poured over top.
Easy Instructions
- Heat the water and sugar – Combine 2 cups of the water with the sugar in a small saucepan. Whisk over medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved into a simple syrup. Set aside.
- Mix the juices & booze – Grab your gallon-sized ice cream pail or similar freezer-safe container. Combine the orange juice, lemonade, brandy, and schnapps. Mix well.
- Add the water and syrup – Add the remaining 7 cups of water to the juice mixture and pour in your simple syrup.
- Freeze – Cover the container and freeze for 24 hours.
- Scrape and serve – Using an ice cream scoop, scrape the slush into a glass. Top with lemon-lime soda pop, and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks
- First step: eat an entire gallon of ice cream. I know I’m asking a lot here, but it’s got to be done! You need that empty ice cream tub to make this slush. (Any freezer-safe bowl and lid will do…but eating ice cream is more fun!)
- If you have children, make sure they understand that this has alcohol. Label it well and put it out of sight in the back of the freezer (or chest freezer). This is especially important if you have teens!
- I like to put the slush in a glass and pour the soda over the top. If you use a deeper glass like a highball or water glass, mix it a bit with your straw to make it more slush-like!
- To spruce these up, garnish them with pineapple wedges, segmented oranges, or maraschino cherries.

- This takes about 24 hours to freeze completely. I like to put it in the glass then pour the Sprite over the top. If you use a deeper glass than what I show (like a highball glass, or water glass), use your straw to mix it a little bit to make it slush like! You're welcome! ENJOY!
I make this with 2 cans of lemonade and blackberry brandy. To add more color I cook the a 1/2 pint of blackberries in my simple syrup. It’s even better if you make your own berry liquors…. Glad to see the recipe hasn’t died from the 1960’s church cookbooks!
You should try to use the soda called squirt. Silly name but it’s what we use and it’s so delicious.

I have loved this for years but have gone about 20 yrs. since I last made it. My mom used to be very adventurous and tried this recipe with of flavoured brandies – like cherry and mixed different frozen juices with them. It was awesome! I think I need to make this again. Thanks for the reminder!
